辨別真皮可以從觸感、外觀、氣味、吸水性等方面入手，最可靠的方法是觀察其天然特性，避免人造皮的規律性紋理和塑膠感。 1. 觀察外觀 (眼看)天然紋理: 真皮表面有不規則的自然紋理、毛孔和可能的疤痕、色差，就像人類的皮膚一樣。黃牛皮通常有均勻的細小毛孔。不完美性: 天然皮革很少完美無瑕，其表面的不規則性正是真品的證明。人造皮: 人造皮革的表面花紋通常非常規則、完美且重複性高，看起來過於均勻一致。 2. 感受觸感 (手摸)柔軟與彈性: 真皮觸感滑爽、柔軟且富有彈性。用手指按壓表面，真皮會出現自然的皺紋，鬆開後皺紋會迅速消失或減淡。溫度感: 真皮摸起來通常是溫暖的。人造皮: 人造皮革摸起來通常感覺較生澀、僵硬，回彈性差，且表面可能因塗層而透氣性差。 3. 聞氣味 (鼻聞)獨特氣味: 真皮具有一種特殊的、淡淡的天然動物皮革氣味，類似於動物的腥味。人造皮: 人造皮革或合成皮通常帶有刺激性的塑膠或化學氣味。 4. 測試吸水性 (水試)快速吸收: 真皮具有良好的吸濕性。在表面滴一小滴水，真皮會迅速吸收水分，水漬會慢慢擴散變深。人造皮: 人造皮革表面有塗層，水滴會停留在表面，不易被吸收。 5. 燃燒測試 (需謹慎)毛髮氣味: 如果條件允許（例如從隱蔽處剪下一小塊纖維），真皮燃燒時會發出類似燃燒毛髮的氣味，且不會結成硬疙瘩。塑膠氣味: 人造皮革燃燒時會產生刺鼻的塑膠臭味，餘燼會結成堅硬的黑色疙瘩。 綜合使用以上方法，通常可以有效區分真皮與人造皮革。在購買時，建議選擇信譽良好的商家或查看產品標籤說明。
